A Valentine Canvas

I paid $1.00 for this canvas last week.
I painted it bubble gum pink with basic acrylic paint. I then free handed a large heart and gave A and O a palette of pink, purple, red, and white paints.
I was incredibly impressed with how they worked together to create a masterpiece without any suggestions or input from me.

Is it necessary to say that I LOVE IT?!?
A valuable piece of art for $1.00.

Bandana Dress/Shirt

O had Western Day at her school a few weeks ago.
This darling is a true cowgirl stuck in a city girl's world.
I decided to try my hand at making her a bandana shirt.

Super EASY and a hit!
(Hobby Lobby has an entire aisle of bandanas. I have my eye on the hot pink and black zebra print!)

Kitty Cupcakes

We spent last week planning O's 4th b-day party!
We had so much fun, and I will share some of the details on Monday.
Of course every good party has a theme.
Our theme was O's Pet Adoption.
We needed 'creative cat' cupcakes.
I found my inspiration here.
However, we did make ours pink...pink...pink!O did all of the fun decorating...I just supervised and bit my tongue.
I think that they are full of personality just like my sweetheart!
I learned later that one of the moms is a professional cake decorator.
Yikes....I can only imagine what she was thinking.....

We Made Soap!

Several months ago, I wrote about this adorable turtle soap.
I mentioned my desire to learn how to make such cute soap.
My faithful reader...aka mother-in-law....bought A all of the necessary supplies for Christmas.
We gave it a try this morning!

It was really easy and quite fun!
Now the kiddos are ready to take a bath!

My Love Affair with Black Spray Paint

I LOVE spray paint. It transforms trash into treasure almost instantly.
I paid $2.25 for this set of nine buckets.
A can of spray paint and a box of stencils......
I bought this tiered server for $1.00 at a thrift store a few weeks back. It is really dated, but nothing a can of spray paint can't fix.I have no idea what I am going to do with this now, but it looks much sleeker...don't you think?

Grapevine Garland

I happened upon this grapevine garland at Michaels a few weeks ago for between $2 and $3.
Imagine the possibilities! I strung it above our dining room window, and I am using mini-clothespins to hang our Christmas cards on it.
I love things that are functional and that can be used all year.
What would you use this grapevine garland for?

Vintage Christmas Card Sign

I purchased this Christmas Card Sign at a garage sale this summer for $.25.
I used my new best friend, black spray paint, to doll it up a little!
I then hot glued a few mini-clothespins around the frame. I am going to use it to display all of the beautiful Christmas cards that we receive this year.
Doesn't he make you want to giggle?
I have been a little distracted this week with our new puppy!
I hope to take some more photos of him tomorrow in the sunshine!

Made with Love

A and O are always wanting me to come up with a craft project. I decided to let them help me create a piece of artwork using a canvas that I picked up at a garage sale, scrap burlap, and antique buttons that I have been saving for a few months.I stapled the burlap to the canvas and then used buttons to make the outline of a heart.

A and O then filled in the heart with more colorful buttons. This is artwork that I will treasure for a lifetime!

It was crafted with lots of love!

What I Learned at Preschool Yesterday

It has been 6 years since I taught preschool. Somehow, I managed to forget how easy it is to ruin your clothes. This is my all time favorite pair of khakis. Now, they are covered in black and white acrylic paint! That was one pricey snuggle! This is what I will be sporting at preschool from now on......
This black apron has been hanging on the pantry hook for about a year. I used some stencils to dress it up a little.
I would really like to have one of my friend Jenny's monogramed aprons, but....I have to buy a new pair of pants.
Check out Jenny's adorable items at
